Darth Vader PDF Painting Guide

Hello!

Today I’d like to share a PDF Painting Guide for Darth Vader from the “You Cannot Run” Duel Pack for Star Wars: Shatterpoint!

Of all the Star Wars characters, Darth Vader is the one that looms largest in my memory and imagination, and it really feels like a reverential experience when I get to paint him!

You can see that I chose to go with quite a subtle level of Object Source Lighting for him; that’s partly because I wanted him to be set in a daylight ambience (to match the playing space as well as the rest of the characters), but also because I didn’t want the OSL to draw too much attention; rather I wanted the helmet/upper chest area to be the primary focus, with the eye then drawn down to take in the more subtle nuances and variations etc

I was surprised to realise that it’s actually been nearly six years since I last painted Vader (that was the Star Wars: Legion Core Set model), and it’s nice to reflect on my own progress as a painter when I compare my approach and level of confidence when painting such an intimidating figure.

I hope the guide is useful to some of you!

Sorastro.
