Coalfang PDF Painting Guide

Hello!

Today I’d like to share with you a quick PDF painting guide for the mighty Warg: Coalfang from the Villains of Eriador expansion for The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth by Fantasy Flight Games.

Coalfang on Board (2 of 3)
Aragorn and Coalfang

Although for this series I’m mostly continuing to limit my colour palette to the Vallejo Model Color “Basic Colors” starter set, I couldn’t resist throwing on some of the Citadel Contrast Colours for this miniature because with such a highly-textured surface this is the kind of figure that the Contrast Colours were made for:

Coalfang FINAL Shots (1 of 1)
Gulgotar and Coalfang from the Villains of Eriador

Coalfang is therefor pretty quick and fun to paint, which means I now only have Atarin left to cover before I’m all caught up and ready to take on the newly-announced expansion, “Shadowed Paths” (which looks amazing if you haven’t already seen it; I mean, who doesn’t want to paint a balrog!?).

Happy Painting!

Sorastro.

Perfect timing, now I have something to do over half term other than entertain my kids.

What would anyone’s suggestions be if you don’t use the Contrast series of GW paints for the initial base coat? I’d guess a sandy brown and a reddish brown?

Thank you Ferran! I actually completed the next two Legion videos three months ago; they’re just awaiting licensing approval before I can release them, which should hopefully be any day now… 🙂
