Hi Dear Viewers!
I hope you’re all keeping well during these strange and uncertain times. Despite the chaos of the last few months I’ve tried to maintain a regular rate of output, yet there are certain areas that have slipped – the “Coming Soon” posts being one of them, so today I have decided to rectify that by letting you know what I’m going to be working on in the near future…
Firstly, I will be continuing to work through the amazing miniatures of Marvel: Crisis Protocol, and I thank you for the kind reception that the series has received so far. It’s no exaggeration to say that the game itself has fast become one of my favourite miniature games of all time, and with the painting I’ve really enjoyed stretching myself with each figure, constantly pushing myself to try new things.
The order in which I’m painting the miniatures is somewhat haphazard (largely because I’m following an ongoing poll on Patreon) but I will soon be completing the Core Set with a video for Ultron, and a PDF for Baron Zemo.
In the next few days I will also be starting work on a video for the incredible Thanos miniature, and in case you missed it, you can see below how I went about magnetising the figure. Beyond Thanos I’ll also soon be moving onto Hela, Rocket, M.O.D.O.K, and many more…
Next, I’m thrilled to have just received my copy of the new expansion to The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle Earth – Shadowed Paths, and I can’t wait to continue the series!
As with the previous miniatures in the game I’ll be producing a combination of videos and PDF guides to help get through the set, and I must say FFG have really outdone themselves with the sculpts in this expansion. Plus we get a Balrog AND Gandalf? What’s not to like!? I’m also excited at the thought of some of the new monsters popping up in the previous campaigns adding yet further variety to our adventures in Middle-earth…
Continuing the fantasy theme (although in a somewhat darker setting) I have assembled the daunting Phoenix from Kingdom Death: Monster, and will soon be starting work on a video for it. Given the size and complexity of the figure, it’s one that I might be painting/filming in stages, so it might be some time before it’s complete, but it’s one that I feel certainly can’t be rushed!
Last but certainly not least I will soon be releasing the final video for the Clone Wars Legion Core Set (which covers the BARC Speeders), and beyond that I have some exciting plans for future episodes in the series, but which I cannot divulge at this time. I will also be continuing to cover some of the past and current expansions for the game as PDF guides here on the website.
That just about wraps up this “Coming Soon”. Thank you as always for every “like” and kind comment – either on YouTube, or across the various social media platforms. It really does mean a lot to me, as does the sense of community I gain from sharing this passion with like-minded gamers and painters around the world – especially during the extended period of lock down.
Stay safe wherever you are, don’t stop dreaming, and Happy Painting!
Sorastro.
Your Lord of the rings series is amazing and truly inspirational! I can’t wait for more
Thank you so much! 😁
Its not only amazing, This series made me a better painter and my friends think the JiME core box is the best thing I’ve ever painted. I’m quite proud to mention that its all thanks to my virtual mentor Sorastro. 😀
Thanks so much Seb! I really appreciate that 🙂
You do an awesome series. Thank you
Thank you very much! 🙂
Hi, thanks for your videos and your time! One question, For when are you going to paint mansions of madness? Thank you very much.
Thank you, again. and again, and again. Quick question: which software you use for composing? which kind of packets you have?
Thanks Hernan! There’s a bit of info about how I create the music here: https://sorastro.com/sorastros-music/ 🙂
Thanks for doing this i am a new painter starting with descent and your videos are helping alot. Ant chance you Will tackle the descent expandions?
I enjoy your videos. My son and I watch them together. Just wish there were more of them.
Thanks a lot Tommy! There will be many more to come (they just take many, many hours to produce..!) 🙂
I’m so glad you will be painting Shadowed Paths! It was the first question which hit my mind after opening the box and marveling at the minis: will you be posting any guides, written or video, for this set? I am excited to await your interpretations.
Thank you so much for your Journeys painting series. They were an invaluable encouragement and inspiration for a new painter and have given me freedom* to explore, watching how and what colors you combined. In fact, I so delighted by the series that I purchased your Oracle album and it has become the standard background music as we play Journeys….. made all the more enriching by *painted* minis. How we look forward to Friday nights! Really, you have been blessed with incredible creative talent and I thank you for sharing that with us!
*As stunning as your Coalfang was, I ignored the “russet” keyword from the game (already having a tan/flame, brown/umber, grey/black warg) and tried to go for a White Warg look from the Hobbit movie. Likely bit off more than I can succeed at but would love to watch how you paint with tricky white shades. Is there already an example which you have?
Thanks a lot Scott! As mentioned in the post, I’ll be producing a combination of videos and PDFs to cover the figures from the Shadowed Paths expansion. There are many ways to paint white, but here’s one example: https://sorastro.com/2019/12/24/orson-krennic-pdf-painting-guide/ 🙂
Thank you for your videos on lord of the ring, because of you i’m painting each evening instead of watching Netflix 😄 my son and i are very impressed for your work and we can’t wait to see your Balrog ! Thank you again.
Thank you very much Nicolas! 😁
Sir you are truly amazing ❤️ and I want to learn to paint miniatures like you do.. so do you have any courses for beginners??
Sir I want to learn miniature painting.. do you have any courses for that ??
Thank you for all your work
Discovered you by chance with JIME
I didn’t want to paint before seeing your videos
Looking forward to seeing some Shadowed paths videos for inspirations and techniques
I had never been interested in figurine painting before purchasing the Lord of the Rings, I looked for a while for someone who painted the figurines the way I wanted.
The day I discovered your tutorials, I bought everything you mentioned to try to imitate your figurines.
I certainly did not achieve the same quality as you but I was very surprised at the quality that I managed to obtain by following your instructions, and this without ever having painted before.
A big thank you to you for your sharing !!!
I can’t wait to start painting again by following your tutorials for the extension 🙂
We are about to receive the Lord of the Rings expansion, and surely I will wait for your series. Without your guidance, I will paint them, but surely I will not be so satisfied by the result !!! You need a place here to share the paints us mortals do based on your guidance (maybe you will not be so satisfied, but hey, we are just mortals) 😀
Thanks for all the effort; shame that Patreon for us Brazilians is hard to support (Because taxes and declarations we have to use international credit card – plus the dolar / euro rate here)
Thank you Marcelo! I really appreciate the kind words. I’ll be starting on the Shadowed Paths minis very soon.. 😀
Can’t wait for more LOTR videos.
I watched all of the episodes in the series multiple times.
Please continue with your excellent work.
Thank you Ariel! I’ve nearly finished work on the next LOTR episode.. 😀
Yeeeessss!!!!!
People ask me for channels to learn from. I always answer “Trust in Sorastro; he will never lead you astray.” I’m not the painter you are, but I’m learning with each one and your tutorials always help and are also fun to watch!
Thank you so much! 😀
Your work it’s just amazing!!! I discovered you while looking for ideas for SW Imperial Assault and decided to purchase JIME knowing that I will have your guidance just like our Gandalf!!
Quick question, will you be painting the Dwellers in Darkness pack?
Keep up with your excellent work!!
Thanks so much Carlos! Yes – I certainly plan to cover the Dwellers in Darkness expansion 😀
