Today I’d like to share a PDF Painting Guide for the Spawn of Ungoliant from The Shadowed Paths expansion to The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth:
The main thing I wanted to achieve with this was to give the impression that this is quite a sick creature, but I also wanted some fairly vibrant tones.
As with the other monsters from the Shadowed Paths expansion I’ve made heavy use of the Contrast Colours which I think are ideal for organic monsters like this.

Thx for this tuto, once again very affordable for beginners like me 🙂 Just one thing not about the painting’s side but more about the character. I’m really not sure this figurine represents Ungoliant ( she was much more bigger than the Balrog and was living before the story of Bilbo, Frodo ,….). I imagine it represents much more, maybe Shelob or a cousin of Shelob, descending of Ungoliant. Just in case. Thx again 😉 Marc
