Today I’d like to share a PDF painting guide for one of the “narrative sculpt” survivors from the Gambler’s Chest expansion to Kingdom Death: Monster – the Cockroach Queen:

I sometimes forget the challenges and rewards of actually creating ones own colour scheme for a miniature (since a lot of what I do is based on existing franchises/character art etc).

For this fearsome survivor I felt a somewhat “Gothic” colour palette would suit the character well – hence the predominantly purple-ish colour scheme (which also compliments the yellow glow of the lanterns).

I’d forgotten just how fine and detailed the KDM minis are, and although no-one’s going to see the nuances of the facial tones etc on the gaming table, I find these miniatures just invite a level of care and passion when painting that’s hard to ignore:
