Calaminth Took PDF Painting Guide

Today I’d like to share a PDF Painting Guide for Calaminth Took from the “Spreading War” expansion to The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth by Fantasy Flight Games:

This is a pretty tiny figure, and I actually questioned my sanity as I was painting the eyes because they can barely be seen – even in the shot above, although you can see them in the close-ups in the guide.  I would therefor strongly suggest treating the eyes as optional!

As usual I took inspiration for the colours from the character art, although I had to make things up a little as the sculpt isn’t quite clothed the same as in the picture.

Naturally I kept the teal-coloured cloak, then used kind of a split-complimentary colour scheme with the red tunic and orange-brown dress.  White then seemed like the obvious choice for the inner shirt and apron to break up the darker colours:

Although I wanted quite a clean, bright look for Calaminth, I couldn’t resist dirtying up the apron and providing some muddy weathering for the cloak:

This completes the third hero figure from the expansion, leaving four more to go…

I do hope some of you find the guide useful!  Watch for more LOTR JIME videos and PDF guides coming soon.  Happy Painting!

PS I’d like to thank my kind patrons on Patreon for funding these guides, and I’d also like to share an affiliate link to the Rosemary & Co Series 8 brush that I love to use. (I use the Size 2, “Short handle”), and here’s an affiliate link to Element Games where I buy most of my other hobby supplies.  Thank you!
