Coming Soon – Summer 2018

Hello dear viewers!

Firstly I apologise for the lack of updates here on the website.  I had a few non-work related issues in the early part of the year to deal with, and although I’ve kept on top of the video work, the website updates is one of the things that gets neglected during times like that.

Additionally, after a long think I’ve chosen to discontinue the monthly “Coming Soon” posts in favour of some more occasional updates that will give you a sense of the direction that my work is taking without pinning me down to a strict schedule that can lead to disappointment when I don’t deliver on time!

With that said, here’s a rundown of the projects I’m going to be working on over the coming months…

Firstly it almost goes without saying that I will be continuing to produce plenty of regular content for both of my Star Wars series, but will hold back on specifics as there is only so much I can share at this time.  All I would say is a huge “thank you” to the community of followers for both Star Wars series for your kind enthusiasm and support of my work.  I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now without you and I hope I can continue to repay you with the best I can offer in all of my future videos.

Meanwhile, on the fantasy front I will shortly be painting the last of the four monsters from Blood Rage – the mighty Sea Serpent!  The monster theme will continue with the Shadow Dragons from Descent, as well as the fearsome White Lion from Kingdom Death Monster.

On that note, I must thank you for the kind response to my first KDM video back in December.  I had put off painting the Prologue Survivors (pictured below) for a couple of years as I simply didn’t feel ready as a painter to do them justice.  I don’t mind telling you that it took a fair bit of courage for me to attempt them, and to reach for the bold and dramatic aesthetic that I had in mind.  Taking risks like this requires a measure of trust, both in myself and in my audience, and the overwhelmingly-positive response to the video really meant a lot to me personally.

Alongside the videos I am also producing regular PDF guides over on Patreon for various figures that I simply don’t have time to cover in video format.  This includes some of the smaller Descent monsters, minis like the Jawa and Ugnaughts from Imperial Assault, and I’m also working my through the Gloomhaven heroes (you can see the first two pictured below):

In other news, by popular demand I am planning to edit the tracks for my second album of music in May.  This will feature a range of fantasy-themed tracks originally written for the Zombicide: Black Plague, Blood Rage, and Descent video series.  The mastering and publishing process will probably mean a final release for the album around July.

As many of you may appreciate, I put my heart and soul into the entire production of each of my videos, and I consider each video as much of a work of art as I do the actual mini being painted.  For me the music is a vital  part of that as it hopefully reinforces the theme of the miniature and the world it inhabits, and I’m very excited to be able to soon share with you the music that is in many ways closest to my heart.

That’s all from me for this update.  Thank you as always for tuning in, engaging, and for being such a supportive audience. 🙂

Sorastro.

Keep up the excellent work. Truly inspirational, even though I have painted off on for over twenty years, I have watched your videos and picked up new methods and tried new paints and of course new models.
